I’ve tried a lot of natural hair products since my big chop in August 2009. Last week, I shared my Black Friday wish list for products that are on my radar.

This week I’m sharing my “10 Must-Have Natural Hair Products for Fall and Winter months”. Almost all of the products listed are multi-functional and they have worked well on my very dense, kinky hair. I practically use them year round but they are definitely passed the cold weather test.

Best Products for Natural Hair | Winter Hair Care

Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Heavy is the bizniss! There is no other way to describe it. If you have thick, kinky, dry hair, you NEED this. It is a bit pricey but this is one case where ” a little goes a long way” applies. One jar lasts me well over 6 months. Check out my review here.

Qhemet Aethiopika Hydrate & Twist Butter is another favorite. It is a great styler/sealant that really keep my hair soft, supple and shiny. See how I use it HERE.

Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque is another great multi-functional product. It is one of my favorites for twisting as well as moisturizing my hair.

Jane Carter Solutions Nourish & Shine is a great sealant/styler. This product keep my hair soft & supple and it’s one of my favorites for doing mini-twists.

Beija Flor Naturals Creme Brulee is a thick, uber moisturizing styler that locks in moisture and keep my hair soft and supple. Read my review here.

BASK Palm Tapioca Hair Cream is another one of my favorites. It is thick and creamy and keeps my hair moisturized for at least a week at a time, especially if I wear my hair pinned up.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) is a STAPLE. I love this stuff year round, but it is a must have in the colder months. It is a great sealant, and I add it to my deep conditioners and hot oil treatments.

CURLS Coconut Sublime Conditioner became an instant favorite from the first time I used it. This conditioner really softens and moisturizes my hair. I love the fact that it can be left in (per the website).

Darcy’s Botanicals Pumpkin Seed Curl Moisturizing Conditioner is another awesome multi-functional product. I use it as a Deep conditioner, rinse out conditioner and as a leave in. Plus it smells amazing. This conditioner does an amazing job at moisturizing my hair.

Last and certainly not least, is the Nubian Heritage Indian Hemp & Tamanu Masque. Yet another awesome multi-functional product that keeps my hair conditioned and soft. Read my review.

YOUR TURN: What are your cold weather staples?

Until next time

Thank you so much,! That was very interesting, I never thought to check my porosity!
I will definitely do that and take it from there.

Oh and I tried the Creme Brûlée with the Jane Carter Nourish and Shine, and I absolutely love the way my hair feels. I don’t think the JBCO is good for my hair.

Thanks again , I will definitely stay tuned, your site is amazing!

Ok, great. Once you’re consistent, you should see results. Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Vee,

I do shampoo with Aveeno Pure Renewal which is a sulfate free shampoo about once a month, then I co-wash with As I Am Co-Wash cleansing conditioner every week.
I was using the Karens Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia along with the Butter Love, but, I noticed although they work well in my hair, my hair would within 2 days have a sour smell.

So I read your must have product list and decided to give the Creme Brûlée and Darcy’s Pumpkin seed a try.

My hair is kinda dense, and gets dry quick, I don’t know how I should be using these products.

Any advice….and sorry for taking up the whole page … Lol

    Hey Michelle,
Thank you 🙂 The Creme Brulee is a very concentrated product so it would depend on how dense your hair is. I like to use it on damp/dry hair that’s been moisturized and allowed to dry a little.
Do you use any kind of shampoo or cleanser or are you strictly co-washing? Product buildup is one of the main culprits of dryness especially if you layer products a lot.
Take your time, trail and error is part of the process. I’m here to help so ask away 🙂

Vee, your hair is always looks well moisturized.
What other products should I use in conjunction with the Beija Flor Creme Brûlée
    when doing a twist out?
I used the Darcy Botanical Pumpkin Seed conditioner, then the Creme Brûlée and then some Lavender JBCO and my hair was dry…
I’m still learning, do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks

I’m so glad I took the plunge to Qhemet. Expensive but worth it. Girl, I just added some more Creme Brulee to my cart 🙂

I’ve heard so much about this oil, but honestly I’m not a huge oil buyer lol. I do want to try the Vatika Oil though 🙂

lol…nope you’re not the only one, I definitely prefer it as a styler. Yep, you can’t slack off on deep conditioning the winter months. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂

I’ve been wanting to try Qhemet ever since I became natural! I hear really great things about those 2 products. I started back using the Beija Flor Creme Brulee and the smell alone is to die for. It really makes no sense how amazing it smells…and it lingers lol.

OMG! I thought I was the only one who used Shea Moisture Deep Conditioning Masque for twisting. lol I just recorded a vid related to that product. I have to try out these some the other products on your list. My fall/winter staples are the same as any other season, but I use more oil on my hair, deep condition more frequently, and co-wash every other week.

Great post! I didn’t realize we had so much in common, like allergies that chisel away at greatness LOL. And praying 15 minutes before jumping out of bed is a much better alternative to my Bloglovin’ reading 15 mins before, too. Thanks for sharing! Good luck on your goals this week.

I’ll admit I don’t switch it up too much for winter. The only change I make is the addition of castor oil. It’s so heavy that I think it’s perfect for colder weather.
