This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of co-hosting a “Pink & Black Affair : Maintaining Natural Hair + Dinner with Curlfriends” event here in Dallas. The event was a joint effort between Bella Kinks’ Bella Glam Naturals Meetup Group, of which I am the co-organizer, and Jenell of Kinky Curly Coily Me! Jenell is taking her “Dinner with Curlfriends” on tour, and Dallas was her first stop.
The planning and preparation to host an event of this size was definitely a task, but it was great to see 140+ Dallas Naturals gathered to learn, laugh, have fun, mingle, have Dinner with their Curlfriends, and of course get TONS of free goodies.
I knew I wanted my hair to be stretched for whatever style I chose, so I used the African Threading Method which worked like a charm. I think this will be my go to method of stretching from now on. My first attempt was kinda sloppy, but I was still pleased with the outcome.
I wanted my hair to be “simple, yet stylish” for the event, so I applied a tiny bit of an “oldie but goodie”, Shea Moisture’s Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner to each section, and then used Qhemet’s Aethiopika Hydrate and Twist Butter to do my twists. It was my first time using the butter, and I am in serious LIKE. 🙂

I pinned up the twists in the back and untwisted the front bang section for a more “stylish” look. I really loved the way it turned out.
As the evening went one, my hair got fluffier and I loved it even more. Four days later, it’s still soft. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. 🙂
