By now you know that I love Crochet braids. They are my go-to protective style. Last week I decided to install some Kinky Twists using the Crochet braid method, because I knew hair would be the last thing on my mind while I was at Blogalicious. 🙂
I did a similar method on my sister a few years but I decided to crochet all the twists in, instead of leaving the perimeter out.

I got so many questions about my hair this past week. Today I’m spilling the beans. Here’s how I did this easy kinky twists style using crochet braids.
TOOLS
Hair – I have been holding on this Freetress Cuban Twists hair for months. It’s comes in 12 & 16 inch packs. I used 6 packs total including 2 packs of 16 inch hair. I have been having the color itch lately so I added some piece of color 99J to spice things up a bit.
This hair inexpensive and it matches my natural hair texture very well. I love that it doesn’t require me to twist in a particular direction. I just twist like I’m doing my own hair.
Product – This hair feels a bit rough to touch. I used the Nubian Heritage Edge Taming Taffy from the Indian Hemp & Tamanu line to soften the hair up a bit. This also helps the hair to slide against my scalp/hair without causing breakage.
Crochet/ Latch Hook – The only tool I use for all my crochet braid styles.
Rods – To add some curl to the ends.

THE PROCESS
How will I maintain this style? : I will use THIS regimen like I always do.
Of course you knew I would have to how-to video right? 🙂 Check it out below and let me know if you try this style.
Until next time
Hello. I see that you don’t update your blog
too often. I know that writing articles is time consuming and boring.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows
you to create new articles using existing content (from article directories or other pages from your niche)?
And it does it very well. The new articles are unique
and pass the copyscape test. You should try miftolo’s tools
I have to try this, it looks so good! I’ve been wanting to do a kinky twist protective style, but they take a lot of time. I love how simple and quick the installation is for this! I’m wondering though, how long can you keep them in for and what are some hair care tips while wearing this style?
Thanks Clarke H 🙂 Let me know if you try it. I use this maintenance regimen: https://veepeejay.com/////2014/09/easy-kinky-twists-maintenance-routine.html .
This looks really good and easy to do. I need a protective style too but I must admit I’m a bit intimidated to try this.Maybe I’ll practice on the Princess Fairy lol
Lol..poor Princess Fairy 😛 I can’t wait to see how it looks. 🙂
Wow Vee you make it look so easy! It looks so great on you and look like you went to a professional to have them installed. I want some kinky twist too so I could give my hair a break.
Thanks Miss Lou. This is a great way to get look for a lot cheaper and a lot less time. Let me know if you try them 🙂
These look awesome Vee!! I plan to do another set of crochet braids since it’s been a while since I did any, and I just might do this version. Well it’s either this, or doing the rod set curls (love that look)
Thanks Shae. I was planning on doing that look (with the rods) but I tried out a few and I didn’t like the way they turned out lol. I played it safe with the Kinky twists and ended up loving them more 🙂
Yeh, for the rods version I will be pre-rodding the hair first and dipping them all first in the hot water, then proceed with the crochet, because I am not a fan of being burned by no hot water lol! And also, I think the way you wrap them on the rod can yield different results.
lol..that was my plan. I was pre-rodding them. I tried out a few and I was like “nope” let me go to plan B.
Oh what? These look SUPER easy! I have to try these over the weekend!
Girl yes! I don’t have the time or the skill to install kinky twists from scratch lol. This style makes it super easy.
