This past weekend I attended Blogalicious 2104! As I mentioned previously, one of my goals for this year was to attend a blogging conference. From the moment I won my pass to Blogalicious and was added to the attendee Facebook group, I KNEW I was in the right place.
If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you would have seen me post a *million* pics/tweets from the weekend. What you got see was the “dessert”, so to speak. Today I’m sharing a quick recap and a few of the MANY takeaways from Blogalicious 2014….the MEAT.
Why did I want to attend a Blogging Conference?
My goal for attending a blogging conference was to connect, be inspired, learn and grow. It’s safe to say I accomplished all of that and then some. In one word, Blogalicious 2014 was amazing!
In case you’re reading this and you’re like “girl, so what really is this Blogalicious all about?”
Here’s a quick clip from Stacey Ferguson (@justicefergie), Co-Founder of Blogalicious. She starts of by saying “Blogalicious is a platform…”
*Blogger Fail* I forgot to turn my phone sideways, but you get the point 🙂
As Stacey mentioned, the theme of the weekend was “Be Great” and at the risk of sounding cliche, I was inspired to be just that! The speakers were dynamic, amazing, empowering, funny and inspiring!
The conference started of with a keynote from Derreck Kayongo, Founder of the Global Soap Project. I was so inspired by his story and how he started the project. He is one funny guy. By the end of his presentation we were lifting our voices in song. True story.
Dr. Shante Bishop of Design Her Label LLC was awesome! We met in the lunch line on Day 1, and I was so excited when she told me she would be leading the session on “Closed Mouths Don’t Get Fed. The 7 Component of Sales Conversion“. She delivered!
I was nodding all the way through Mario Armstrong’s Master Class on “Pursuing Your Passion for Profit” (without compromising your integrity). I’m officially a member of the #NeverSettle club and I look forward to implementing what I’ve learned. 🙂
I was fighting back tears by the end of Cheryl Woods’ “Mindset Mastery” session. She was amazing and she left me so inspired to be great! NOW!
By the time I made it to Harriette Cole’s Master Class “Leap into Your Greatness” I wasn’t sure I could take anymore. I mean, could this get any better? Her meditation exercises and discussions with us were all focused on taking the “leap” and not just standing at the edge of the cliff. *Looks around* Why did all these people know my life? 🙂
Marshawn Evans had us fired up early in the morning on the last day of the conference. She is a powerhouse packed into a tiny package. Her definition of RICH – Really In Christ’s Hands just brought it all together.
These are just a few snippets from a few of sessions I attended. There were so many more that I could talk about, but we’ll be here all week 🙂 In all the excitement I misplaced my camera and I wasn’t reunited with it, until about 24 hours later so I missed a lot of pics. Womp!
We also got to meet some other cool peeps.
Issa Rae- Awkward Black Girl
Princess Tiana! *School Girl Squeal*
Lamman Rucker, Actor, Activist, Philanthropist 🙂
We also had an exclusive screening of Beyond the Lights which hits theaters this weekend! Go see it! It’s amazing. We had the opportunity to chat with the Director Gina Prince-Bythewood about the long process of getting this movie made. GO SEE IT!
I also won this signed poster to take home. 🙂
And of course blogger friends! It’s always a joy to meet people who you have connected with online in real life. We jump and hug and squeal like little school girls 🙂 These are just some of the numerous pics. All amazing women.

Bottom (L-R) Laura @supermommy101, Diana @sisterswithbeauty , Alisha @coilylocks.
And then there’s my special circle….well at least two of them 🙂 I love these ladies so much. They are so supportive and they are like fairy blog sisters to me. My blogger boos MommyWeek + BeatriceClay.
Ok, now to bring it all home. Finally right? Here are 10 Takeaways that you can save and share, and PIN 🙂
Congrats to Stacey and the entire Blogalicious Team on a job well done!
Still want more? You’re in luck because this was just skimming the surface. Check out the #BeGreatb6 hashtag on Instagram & Twitter.

Great recap! I was unable to attend this year, but I did watch a few speakers online. Cheryl was fabulous! The quote you have from her is one of my favorites as well!
