grenada-vacation-veepeejay4Before I left Dallas for vacation in Grenada, I planned to install some Crochet braids. Due to time constraints, that never happened :/ ย For the first few days, I “attempted” to wear a twist out but the humidity here just wouldn’t let me be great.

My sister began the braid pattern for the Crochet braids but I quickly realized that having hair on my neck was not something I wanted to deal with. We went with plan B. Kinky Twists with cornrows (originally done for the Crochet braids) in the middle, worn in a bun.
Maintaining Kinky Twists

This style is perfect for vacation and the hot Grenadian weather. The kinky twists maintenance is pretty easy too. I only brought three natural hair products with me to Grenada. Two of them were part of my summer favorites.

Maintenance Routine:

  1. ย I use Witch Hazel on a Q-tip every other day to “cleanse” my scalp. I’ve been using this method for years and it always works really well.
  2. Spritz hair and scalp with Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave in Conditioner.
  3. Apply oil lightly to hair and scalp. Oil mix borrowed from my sister ๐Ÿ™‚
  4. Apply CURLS Blueberry Bliss Control Paste to my edges
  5. DONE.

My hair has been holding up pretty well but I’ll be on vacation for 10 more days, so I may need to wash or remove them before I leave.

I’ve been posting daily on my Instagram account so feel free to follow me there to see what I’m getting into ๐Ÿ™‚

How to Maintain Kinky Twists

YOUR TURN: Do you take natural hair products with you when you travel or do you opt for a maintenance free/low maintenance style?ย

Until next time

My husband and I are in Hawaii. I wanted to wear a twist out, but thought the humidity would kill it. The humidity is not bad here, and with a little help from Aveda anti-humectant Pomade my twist out lasted 4 days. I do bring my products with me on vacation. I even bought a cute little bag to keep all my hair products in.

Hey Kim. I don’t know how I missed your comment. My apologies. You look beautiful. I definitely need to pack some anti humectant products for my next vacay. Thanks so much for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚

Your hair looks beautiful. When I vacay, I typically get box braids so that I can have fun without worrying much about my hair.

Thanks Jheanell. That’s definitely the way to go because no one has time for hair on vacay ๐Ÿ˜‰
