Before I left Dallas for vacation in Grenada, I planned to install some Crochet braids. Due to time constraints, that never happened :/ For the first few days, I “attempted” to wear a twist out but the humidity here just wouldn’t let me be great.
My sister began the braid pattern for the Crochet braids but I quickly realized that having hair on my neck was not something I wanted to deal with. We went with plan B. Kinky Twists with cornrows (originally done for the Crochet braids) in the middle, worn in a bun.
This style is perfect for vacation and the hot Grenadian weather. The kinky twists maintenance is pretty easy too. I only brought three natural hair products with me to Grenada. Two of them were part of my summer favorites.
Maintenance Routine:
- I use Witch Hazel on a Q-tip every other day to “cleanse” my scalp. I’ve been using this method for years and it always works really well.
- Spritz hair and scalp with Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave in Conditioner.
- Apply oil lightly to hair and scalp. Oil mix borrowed from my sister 🙂
- Apply CURLS Blueberry Bliss Control Paste to my edges
- DONE.
My hair has been holding up pretty well but I’ll be on vacation for 10 more days, so I may need to wash or remove them before I leave.

My husband and I are in Hawaii. I wanted to wear a twist out, but thought the humidity would kill it. The humidity is not bad here, and with a little help from Aveda anti-humectant Pomade my twist out lasted 4 days. I do bring my products with me on vacation. I even bought a cute little bag to keep all my hair products in.

Your hair looks beautiful. When I vacay, I typically get box braids so that I can have fun without worrying much about my hair.
