Things have been pretty quiet on the blog these last few weeks. I planned to “come back” starting March 1st but I decided to take my own advice and stop waiting to start 😉
Last week while searching my name on Facebook (I do this periodically), I came across a post I made almost 6 years ago when I uploaded my first YouTube video. I could not help but laugh at the video. It was very basic, but it did the job. The important thing is that I STARTED. Had I not done that, I would not be where I am today.
Almost daily, I get emails and messages from people “wanting to, or thinking about doing xyz”. Trust me I used to be in that boat too. I would think so much that I would often talk myself out of doing things, but over the years, I’ve learned the power of STARTING.
Had I not started this blog, I would not have had some of the amazing opportunities I have had, and I would not have truly discovered the path that God had for me.
Had I not started Ven & Rose (despite my fears) I would not have had the opportunity to have my design used in a Creme of Nature campaign (my bad if I never shared that), nor would I have been able to impact the lives of so many people through the brand.
Had I not started my training & consulting business (well, the truth is I put is that off for a LONG time), the clients I was meant to serve would not have had the opportunity to work with me.
After working with a number of clients and just speaking with people, I realize that there are using two reasons why we “wait to start”. The first reason is usually fear. We are afraid of stepping out and doing something different or we are waiting for things to be perfect. *Raises both hands because I know this story all too well*
The second reason is usually lack of information/resources on how to get started. This one is a pretty easy fix because the resources are out there. You just need to seek them out or hire someone to help you.
This post is a reminder to you (and myself) to stop waiting to start.
