Recently my friend Ariel from SlayCulture asked me to be part of her #selfcareaday instagram campaign. The aim of the campaign was to highlight the importance of self care by featuring one person’s self care story each day. In my feature, I shared why self care is a non-negotiable for me.
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have been doing #SelfCareSunday posts. Every week I make sure I take the time to take care of me, no exceptions. If I’m not careful, I will find myself in front of the computer, sometimes up to 12 hours a day with little breaks.
Almost everywhere I turn I see people who are #TeamNoSleep, #TeamNoDaysOff, #TeamAlwaysGrinding. Don’t get me wrong, I have pulled (and sometimes still do) my share of all nighters, when necessary, but there must be balance. I know myself, and I’m no good to anyone if I don’t take care of myself. So for me, self care is NON-NEGOTIABLE. I’m also much more productive and focused when I take care of myself.
As you can see, self care doesn’t always mean going off to the spa for a weekend.
For me, small things like taking time away from social media or reading while pampering my face, are acts of self care.

YOUR TURN: What’s your favorite way to take care of YOU?
One of the ways that I take care of myself is making sure that I have a day to myself (which usually involves doing a whole lot of nothing. One way I would like to take care of myself better is by working out more 😀
Yes, working out and doing the least are definitely acts of self care.
This post is great! Self-care is essential and I have been making it my business to make time for ME.
Thanks you Valerie.
I love this Vashti, I certainly subscribe to self care. The family can’t be great, if I’m not great.
Thanks Mimi.
I love your Self Care Sunday Post!! I agree self care doesn’t have to be limited to spa treatment but how are you nourishing your soul. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Siobhan.
I take care of myself by insisting on my alone time when I need it. We definitely have to take care of ourselves before we can take care of anyone or anything else. Great post.
Thank you so much for reading Antoinette.
