It’s time for FFF. This month’s feature is a young entrepreneur with an awesome, inspirational story to tell. Meet Fatima from “Flowers from Fatima”.
1) Please introduce yourself. What would you like the readers to know about you?
My name is Fatima Spencer. I’ve just celebrated my 24th birthday in June. I am an indie fashion designer from Cincinnati, Ohio and a huge advocate for natural living (natural hair included)!
2) Tell us about Flowers from Fatima. What/who was the inspiration behind it? How did it get started?
Flowers From Fatima is a blossoming online boutique that carries handmade hair flowers and accessories for women. I was inspired by my experience with gardening, as a child. I helped my family breathe new life into my neighborhood through flowers. It was my father’s dream to inspire people and transform our low-income community into a paradise and before he passed away, he did just that. My love for flowers runs deep. I was so enamored with the beauty and POWER of flowers that I found a way to make them my own. The seeds were planted and Flowers From Fatima was born shortly after my father died.
3) What items do you currently offer? Who is your target market?
Right now, Flowers From Fatima carries a variety of flower clips, flower headbands, and crowns. Our primary audience consists of college girls, brides, and women with natural hair.
4) What distinguishes Flowers from Fatima from its competitors?
Flowers From Fatima offers high-quality hair flowers with a “realistic” appeal, for women that want to enhance their natural beauty. In addition, our new line of exotic hair flowers is definitely among the more innovative style of hair accessories and you’ll find them EXCLUSIVELY at Flowers From Fatima.
5) What is your vision for Flowers from Fatima? Where would you like the business to be in 5 years?
I hope to see Flowers From Fatima grow to become a well-known brand all over the world. We have already taken a few great leaps, but in 5 years, I expect to have my brand carried in major retail stores. I would like to be successful enough to provide jobs for the people that I love. I also plan to non-profit programs to uplift and inspire other young African American women, the way that I had been inspired. It is all about building stronger communities.
7) Where can we purchase your creations?
