First Friday Feature: Keli

I’m so excited to introduce this month’s feature. Keli is a fellow Youtuber, and I was really drawn to her gentle nature and sweet personality.

1. Introduce yourself? What would you like the readers to know about you?

Hello everyone, my name is Keli and on Youtube and all social media I go by Keli B. I’m
a mother of two girls, they are 19 and 6 years old. I work in the healthcare system, which I really enjoy and I love natural hair.

2. What do you love most about being natural? Have you had any challenges?

Being natural is an experience in itself, but I love my texture. Having 4C hair can be a challenge. Kinky coily hair can be difficult, but I have learned to embrace my texture and express myself thru my hair. My biggest challenge about being natural is not having curl definition. I have to twist or finger coil my hair to have some form of curl. I don’t mind twisting my hair but it can be a challenge.

3. How do you care for your hair? What’s your go-to style?

Well this is my second “Big Chop” and I must say I care for my hair much better now than I did before. I use all kinds of products and I don’t avoid much, but I use mainly Shea Moisture products (Co-washing, Loc Method & Styling). I only really use two oils in my hair, olive oil and grape seed. I use to use castor oil but I have come to realize it’s a little too heavy for me.

My go to hair style is twist out. I really can’t do much with a TWA, well at least for now.

4. Has wearing your hair in it’s natural state changed you in any way?

Oh my, I’m super sassy and my confidence is thru the roof, lol. I had no idea I would feel this good about wearing my hair in its natural state. I have always had straight hair… growing up getting my hair hot combed or pressed… then moving onto to a relaxer. I say being natural is very delightful for me.

5. If you could give some advice to your “pre-natural” self, what would it be?

Don’t judge your hair to the next person…. Enjoy your hair 🙂

6. Is there anything else you’d like to share? Any hobbies or special projects?
