Last Thursday, I decided it was time to wash my mini twists. At that time, they were exactly one week old and still looked pretty good, but it was hot and I knew I’d be attending the Bella-Kinks website launch on Saturday, so my hair had to be at it’s best.
I’d intended to use Naptural85’s method of covering my head with a stocking cap, but mine was no where to be found.
I started out by doing a deep conditioning using Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner. I applied the conditioner to my dry twists, covered with a plastic cap and left it on for approximately 30 mins. I rinsed it out and tried not to agitate my hair too much in a effort to minimize frizzing and tangling. Next I applied some Curl Junkie Smoothing Conditioner and left that one for a few minutes before I rinsed it out.
My hair felt great and was not as frizzy as it could have been, I guess the smoothing conditioner really did its job. I proceeded to moisturize and seal. Next, I gently twisted small sections of twists together and used plastic clips to hold them in place, in an effort to keep the roots stretched. This method worked really well.
I did plan on re-doing the twists along the perimeter of my head but I got to retwisting and before I knew it, I had redone my entire head! I can’t tell you how long it took me, but it definitely was not as long as 5 hours and now they are as good as new.
How do you care for your mini twists? Please share below.
Until next time
The twist r so pretty!!
Hey sis, yes they are plastic. I don’t like the metal one either and I had no idea they made them in plastic until I found them at a BSS near me. They really did a great job. Let me know if you have issues finding them cause I can send you some ☺
I like the idea about using clips to stretch the roots. Where did you get those colorful ones from? Are they plastic? I have metal ones and I think they will murder my hair.
Moisturizing and sealing! Best way to care for my twist.
