I’m sure you’ve heard of a “little” event called National Natural Hair Meetup Day (NNHMD)! If you haven’t, it’s the brainchild of Adeea Rogers aka TheTrendySocialite on YouTube, and it aims to bring naturals across the country together to “meetup”. This past Saturday was the inaugural event and I attended in Dallas meetup hosted by SportyAfros.

The event was held at a small wine bar and as you can see the lighting was not the best so my camera didn’t cooperate 🙁

Although the event was well attended, full of use information surrounding fitness, health and other important and useful tips, and I did have a good time meeting up with my curlfriends, it would have been nice if we had a little more time to just socialize or do fun stuff (games, swap products etc).
I do take into consideration that the event was only 3 hours long and the space limitations certainly played a role in that.

Overall it was a good event with knowledgable, resourceful speakers and of course there were a number of giveaway prizes. I actually won a giveaway prize of the Science of Black Hair and I traded it in for something else (since I already own one) and I ended up getting last month’s curlkit which coincidentally contained a few of the same products as the swag bag. Oh well…..:)
Oh, did I mention that I was LOVING my hair for the day! It was a flat twist out (which I’m getting better at) using Camille Rose Almond Jai Twisting butter, which held up surprisingly well in the 95 degree weather. I especially love the way my styles fall/the shape of my hair, since I did my recent blowout and trim/cut.
