As I posted yesterday, this past weekend I attended the Nappiology Expo. Originally I had this elaborate style idea in my head involving lots of flat twists made into an updo. Well, together with the fact that I was not feeling well all of last week, I was in no mood to stand in front of the mirror to create the “do”.

So after I did a Henna Gloss, I deep conditioned and proceeded to….you guessed it….twist my hair 🙂 I did them kinda medium sized and went to bed. On Saturday morning, just before I left the house, I came up with this “do”….

I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. It’s amazing what a little imagination and some hair pins can do 🙂

So what do you think of the style? See how I achieved it below

Those photos remind me of those very elegant West African carvings of women, with gorgeous high cheek bones and oval heart shaped faces, and very intricate , regal hairstyles. It’s like taking a step back in time, and reliving a real cultural richness and experience of a different life on another continent. Wow! Very beautiful and creative. It’s very inspiring!

I’m a huge fan of mini twists, and wear them most of the time. They are SO versatile and there’s no excuse for not being creative with them at all. What I love about them, is that everyone’s twists look so unique and indivdual: never identikit.

lol…thanks Amicah! You’d be surprised what you can do. A few months ago, I wasn’t that “creative”. The more you do the better you get 🙂

Thank you! It was impromptu as I said but I think it turned out great :). Maybe you can try “stuffing” the hair with Marley braiding hair to make it appear thicker? What do you think? 😉
