Happy New Year! I hope your 2018 is off to a good start. I don’t know about you, but I’m so grateful that I made it see another year.
Hands down, 2017 was THE MOST challenging year of my life. While there were many great things that happened, for most of the year I was dealing with health issues that tested me to my core.
I was tested in ways I’ve never been tested before. My health was tested, my faith was tested, but in the process I also learned that I’m much stronger than I gave myself credit for.
If you’re a *regular* reader you may have read my post from July 2017 where I shared the fact that I was faced with a health challenge that caused me to be “off the grid” and absent from the blog and social media for over 3 months.

At the time I wrote that post, I was “ok” but I definitely was not in optimal health. In August I got a take a much needed (short) trip home to witness by sister walk down the aisle. When I returned I attempted to get back into to the swing of things but I quickly realized that that wasn’t going to happen.
To make a very long story short, one thing led to another and I was faced with a situation where I knew that I just needed to give myself time to FULLY get better. As someone who has been pretty healthy and has never been sick for longer than 2-3 weeks (with the flu) in the past, being “unwell” for an extended period was hard for me, but I KNOW that this was just for a season.

While I did pop in on the blog/social media sporadically in the past few months, I made the decision to give myself the grace and time I needed. I didn’t try to be a hero and “push through” or “show up” when my body said otherwise.
This post that I shared on Instagram back in October 2017 sums it up well.
Everyone knows that “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. I’ve also learned that the process of refilling your cup sometimes happens quickly and sometimes it takes a little longer. So many of you reached out to me during my social media absence and I appreciate you so much for checking in to say “hey”. 2017 has been quite a year but I’m grateful that I’ve learned to give myself time & grace needed to refill my “cup”.
This entire experience has changed my perspective on a lot of things and it’s the reason I have only ONE GOAL for 2018.
My goal for 2018 is to BE WELL (in all areas of my life) but my health is at the top of the list.
In terms of the blog, I look forward to posting more regularly and continuing to share meaningful content that would hopefully be helpful to you in some way.
Thank you again to everyone who checked in on me, sent your prayers and encouragement and wished me well. Here’s to being well in 2018.
