holiday-looks-target-play-by-rules-break-the-rules-veepeejayThe countdown to Christmas is officially on, so that means lots of holiday parties and events. When it comes to hair and makeup, the holidays are usually synonymous with lots of stylish updos with glitzy makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic holiday looks that “play by the rules,” but this year I also wanted to try something that broke the rules a little.

Since I can’t seem to stay out of Target, I stopped by my Target Beauty Concierge Cecelia (yes, we are on a first-name basis name) for some inspiration.

I started off with blown-out hair and used the Shea Moisture Strengthen, Grow & Restore Styling Lotion to style my hair. I created a small section at the front and added some curlers. For the back section, I did some twisted pin curls, which gave some texture to the look. holiday-updo-target-play-by-rules-veepeejayTo complete the look, I used the Maybelline Gilded in Gold limited-edition palette that Cecelia suggested. This palette has everything I need for the classic holiday makeup look.

This look is perfect for a glitzy holiday party. If you prefer the look of the classic red lip, you can definitely add more color. I added Wet n Wild’s red velvet lipstick on top of the Maybelline lip gloss.

For the eyes, I mixed colors from the Maybelline palette and added a pop of dark blue from the Pixi by Petra Aquamarine Dream Palette.

If you want to stand out at the holiday party or your friend’s holiday dinner, this look will definitely achieve that. Big, fabulous hair and bold makeup.

You’re beautiful in both looks, but the BOLD look is especially flattering in my opinion. Hope all is well!
