veepeejay-steve-harvey-soar-retreatEarlier this month, I flew to Miami to attend the Steve Harvey SOAR Retreat. I served as one of the Blogger Ambassador for the Retreat, and I’m really grateful that I had the opportunity to attend this amazing event.

The weekend  featured an all star line up of speakers including Doreen Rainey, Valorie Burton, Ali Brown, Laila Ali, Patrice Washington, Angelia Jia Kim, Paul C Brunson and Majorie & Steve Harvey.

10 Takeaways from Steve Harvey SOAR Retreat

The theme of the Retreat was “Lifting Women Higher” and I can say without a doubt, that I gained so much from the retreat. I have been to a number of events in the past 4 years, and this one was definitely one that I will remember for a long time to come. In this post I’ll be sharing 10 Takeaways from the SOAR Retreat. I have almost two notebooks full of notes, but these were some of the nuggets that really resonated with me.

Valorie Burton’s  presentation was amazing! Thanks to Strayer University, we were each given an autographed copy of her book “Successful Women Think Differently”. It’s definitely a book every woman should read.  In the past months and year, I have personally had a lot of mindset shifts. This quotes from Valorie Burton was so profound for me.    “Successful women never miss the opportunity to live life on purpose” – Valorie Burton Patrice-Washington-soar-retreat-veepeejaySpeaking of mindset shifts, Patrice Washington also known as the Money Maven really dived deep into how our money mindset affects our wealth. It was really powerful stuff!

This nugget from Doreen Rainey really resonated with me as well. I have shared here on the blog before about my “journey” to stepping out of my comfort zone. I say journey because it is on going. This year I have been really pushing myself to do those things that scare me. One of my most recent projects , launching the Naturally Inspired Collection scared me to death! So much so that I almost didn’t do it. Fast forward to almost two month post launch, and I have been getting so many positive and encouraging messages about the collection.

The lesson: Do It Afraid, as Christine from MomsNCharge would say.

her-power-hustle-veepeejay-soar-retreatOf course I also connected with some amazing women while in Miami. It was an intense but rewarding three days and I’m so happy I got to experience it. Want more? Check out the #SOARRetreat hashtag on Twitter & Instagram.

YOUR TURN: Which one of the theses quotes resonated with you most? Please share with me in the comments below.  Blogsig1

Lots of great takeaways but I love the Don’t quit, pivot one especially. This is the second review I have read of this event and it definitely looks like a great one.

I love the tweet about asking God for something and not waiting for it to show up. Patience and hard work will always bring results in due time.

Great takeaways for sure. The words spoken at this event will stick with me for years to come. I plan to comb over my notes on a regular basis so that I don’t miss anything.

It was great to meet you and have lunch while there.

“The most selfish thing you can do is have so much fear that you don’t soar.” This quote speaks to my heart. I’m tired of being in my own way.
