Thank you to The Makeup Show for sponsoring my attendance to The Makeup Show Dallas 2015.
This past weekend The Makeup Show was held in Dallas. The show, which is in its 10th year brings together industry experts, cosmetic brands, makeup artists, hairstylists and students for “community, education, networking, inspiration” and of course lots of shopping 🙂
The weekend began with the Blogger Preview Event on Friday where James Vincent, Director of Education & Artistry for the Makeup Show, gave us an overview of the weekend’s activities and reiterated the show’s focus on Education.
For the first time, the Makeup Show hosted a Career Fair to allow students the opportunity to meet with brands hiring estheticians, hairstylists and makeup artists.
Due to uncontrollable circumstances, I missed a few of the business sessions that I really wanted to attend on Saturday.
But from the ones I got to sit in on, and from the feedback from fellow bloggers, attendees got tips on not only makeup application and products, but also valuable insights and best practices for building businesses and brands from industry pros.
All Natural blotting paper by the roll from Nurturing Force.
This was my first time at the Makeup Show and I learned a lot. I also had a great time catching up with local bloggers, as well as meeting and networking with new blogger friends.

With Maisha of ThatItGirl.com who drove up from Houston.
I met Krysten, who is a Makeup Artist, at the Magnolia Makeup booth and we instantly hit it off. She was funny and down to earth and won me over when she burst into spontaneous song, as I tried on their red lipsticks. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I can pretty much make up a song about anything. She was an instant friend 🙂 Within 5 minutes of meeting Krysten, she volunteered, umm I mean she convinced me to have my makeup done at Celebrity Makeup Artist Marc Harvey’s booth, so that she could she how his airbrush makeup worked on my complexion. Anything for a new friend, right ? 😉
As I sat in the chair to get my makeup done, Marc mentioned that he was scheduled for a presentation on the main stage in about 15 minutes, and asked me to be one of his models. Of course I obliged 🙂
Marc demonstrated two looks using his airbrush system. He did an everyday, more natural look on his other model, and a full coverage, more dramatic look on me. This was my first time having my makeup airbrushed, and it felt like a mini spa treatment.
I also didn’t feel like I was wearing any makeup, but I’m obviously wearing quite bit.
Of course, no makeup show would be complete without tons and tons of makeup and beauty products right? Our blogger/press goody bags were filled with all of James Vincent’s favorites.
I also picked up a few more items from Amarte Skincare, Model in a Bottle (for my insanely unruly eyebrows), Magnolia Makeup, Nurtruring Force and Anastasia Beverly Hills, which I forgot to include in the picture.
YOUR TURN: What are some of your favorite makeup/beauty brands?
Wow What fun!! I know I would have been in awe of the painted ladies walking around. I have always thought that was such an amazing talent….
I first heard about this event last year. So much to learn for a makeup novice like myself. The airbrush makeup looks so pretty!
Thanks Camesha. Yep, there was soooo much to learn. I tried to soak up as much as I could 🙂
So can you make sure to send me my invite next time? That swag bag is everything! Looks like it was a great event and I wonder if there’s anything similar in the DC area. That make-up looks amazing on you!
I’ll see what I can do 🙂 They visit a few cities so DC might definitely be on the list. Thanks Julian 🙂
This looked like such a fun way to network and learn about beauty! I would have really loved that swag bag!
It was. Thanks Ashley
I’ve always wanted to try the airbrush make-up! It looked gorgeous on you 🙂
Thanks Christine. It was a pretty cool experience.
I’ve never had my makeup down with the air brush machine but it looks fascinating. By the by that makeup artist has beautiful bone structure.
That tote bag screams MimiCuteLips. lol Looks like a great time.
LOL…it is a “cute” bag. Yep, he does.
I have such oily skin that i need blotting paper all the time. I love the idea of a roll instead of sheets and that it’s all natural. You were perfect to be his model and the makeup came out great. Looks like a really fun makeup show 🙂
Girl I have fallen in love with the blotting paper. It is infused with rose water so it’s also very calming. Thanks Adanna.
This shows that makeup artist are real artist as well. I love the idea of the all natural blotting paper. I needed a lot of that today. It was so humid today.
Yes, they are. The blotting paper is one of my new favorites.
Great recap! Looks like so much fun and you look gorgeous! I love trying out new things especially when I don’t have to pay for it first lol, but one of my favorite new makeup products has to be Estée Lauder Double Wear. I love how light it feels on and perfect for the summer and my oily skin.
Thank you Tyesha. Yep, I love swagbag goodies for that very reason. I’ve heard a lot about the Double wear but I haven’t had the opportunity to try it.
This is right up my alley and looks like it was an incredible day! I love makeup and would love to try out the airbrush makeup. Can that be done at home??? I think next time I’m in the states I need to take a class on it. Looks like so much fun! And you look great btw!
xo Bre
Thank you Bre! There are some brands who offer at home airbrush kits. Temptu is one of them
you look beautiful!( with or without makeup by the way. I’ve always been curious about airbrush makeup. Was it hard to take off?
Thanks LaShawn. It was super easy to take off.
Is that a real person? I had to scroll back up wow. I don’t wear makeup at all don’t even know the first thing about it but I think its high time I learned. Great recap
