word-of-the-year-veepeejay-oneword
Life doesn’t always go as planned. The fact that I’m writing a  “New Year” post for the 6th year in a row is proof of this. I never had any intentions to start a blog, but here I am heading into year six, and as I’ve mentioned before, this is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Happy New Year. Welcome to 2017. Obviously, if you’re ready this, you made it, and I’m grateful that you’re taking the time to read this post.

For the second year in a row, I’ve decided to pick #OneWord to guide my year. Last year I picked IMPLEMENT and for 2017, my word is SOAR. I will be SOARing in 2017.

After doing a lot of implementing in 2016, it’s time to SOAR. Of course, I already know that SOARing will require me to step even further out of my comfort zone, face fears, and all that jazz, but I’m up for the challenge.  Last year I did a lifestyle interview with NaturallyCurly and the writer described me as a “pro at stepping out of her comfort zone”. I’m owning this because I’ve gotten pretty good at it, but that does not mean it’s easy by any means.

I also thought long and hard about how I could break down the word even more, and here’s what I came up with. I think it falls in line with everything I’m aiming to do this year.

S – Strategic
O- On Purpose
A – Action-Oriented
R- Results Driven

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” -Isaiah 40:31

What To Expect on VeePeeJay

In 2017, I want to “just write”. In the last few months of 2016, I got burnt out/bored and took a break to focus on my lifestyle brand, Ven & Rose, as well as my consulting/coaching business.

In 2017, I will continue to share the same type of content I share inspirational, positive, lifestyle content I share here now.

After blogging for 6 years, I’ve grown a lot as a person, and I have obviously gotten older (READ: closer to 40 than 30) and my experiences and priorities have changed. What I will continue to do is to stay true to who I am, and share my journey & experiences through life (entrepreneurship included), in the hopes that it inspires at least one person to live on purpose or take action on something they want to achieve.

I will continue to share sponsored content that is in line with the VeePeeJay and as always, I will be honest and forthcoming in my posts.

I also plan to get back to making YouTube videos, as well as doing more live streams to connect with you even more, mainly via Facebook Live .

So that’s it. Those are my high-level plans for 2017.

Thank you for sticking with me over these 6 years. I pray that 2017 will be your BEST year yet. I’m looking forward to SOARing together.

    Happy New Year Vee!

SOAR is the perfect word for you. I’ve watched you pivot and grow and I am so happy to a part of your circle. You are such an inspiration to me and many others. I can’t wait to see how high you soar in 2017. My word is PUSH because Lord knows i need to push past my fears and doubts to get the results I dream of. Thanks for sharing Isaiah 40:31. It’s one of my favorite versus I sing all the time from a song we sang in church all the time “They that wait on the Lord”. Amen.
