Happy 2016! We made it, we are here and it’s time to implement. Oh wait, that last part was for me (and you too, if it applies) :). I really love the idea of picking a word (or three) as a theme for the year. My one word for 2016 is IMPLEMENT.
I consider myself a life long learner, but I also know that I need to take the time to implement all those things that I have learned, in order to get to where I want to be. In 2015 (especially), I invested a lot of time, money and resources in learning. From webinars, to courses to events and conferences, I did it all and I loved every bit of it. As a result, I have notebooks, workbooks, printables and pdf documents full of information, and ideas and plans that I know I need to fully implement.
If I’m being honest, I know part of the reason I have not implemented some of these ideas is because of FEAR. We had a long discussion about that in this post so I won’t reiterate. As I mentioned in my 2015 review post, this year will be one of even more growth and branching out. So what does that mean?

In 2014 when I rebranded my blog from “The HodgePodge Files” to VeePeeJay, I know I wanted to switch things up a bit. For the most part, I did that but not to the level that I wanted. When I started blogging in 2009 to share my hair journey, I had no idea where God would take me. Fast forward to today and he has opened so many doors for me, that I would be being disobedient, and not living my purpose if I didn’t walk through them.
While I love my hair, and will continue to incorporate natural hair content, there is so much more to me than my *fabulous* twist out and updo styles. 🙂 It is only one part of who I am. I also know that the only person who can dictate what I’m “known” for is ME. In order to do that, I need to IMPLEMENT. Basically, I will be diversifying the content and stepping out of my comfort zone…again.
This year you can expect to see me incorporate even more lifestyle and helpful/inspiring content on the blog. I want to inspire to live your life fully and on purpose by sharing more of my journey with you. I want to encourage you to stop doubting yourself and your abilities and to step out of your comfort zone. I plan to share more about self care, staying organized, and staying on track with your goals, just to name a few. These are all things that I struggle with sometimes, as I navigate the ins and outs of being a “solopreneur”.
In terms of other business goals, I plan to add new product offerings to Ven & Rose and continue to grow the brand. I also plan to do more blogging/vlogging related events and workshops. I have so many plans, but I know that none of them will actually happen if I don’t IMPLEMENT, and this year I’m committing to do more of that.

Last Thursday I hoped on Periscope to do a #YearinReview session with a few other ladies including BoldandFearless, Rattles and Heels, FabhauteMama, MimiCuteLips , BeFreeProject and TheTravelingDiva. The #passthescope session was organized by Christine of Momsncharge and it was a really inspiring and eye opening to be able to be share in the successes, lessons learned and aha moments of these ladies. You can catch the replay of my scope below.

I pray that your 2016 is off to a great start and I wish you success in all your endeavors. I’m looking forward to connecting with you even more this year. Thanks for your support.
YOUR TURN: What is your theme/word for 2016?
You have chosen a great theme for the year. Wishing you all the best in implementing your plans and ideas.
Thank you so much Antoinette.
Love this! Fear will definitely hold you down!
It certainly will. Thanks Valerie.
I love this! I am also trying to implement a number of things this year. It is so hard striking a balance because there is so much to learn and yet you want to get work on things that are in your head waiting to come out!
Thanks Tyra! Yes, it’s a lot to juggle but I’m determined to make it work 🙂
Very nice! Fear and I have been going at it for years. Years! I finally decided that it can come along but it won’t drive me. 🙂
Ohhh I can identify! I don’t think you ever stop being scared, you just have to push past and get it done 🙂
I had such a great time passing the scope, you ladies are so dope. My word for 2016 is action and like you I’ve not done much because of fear. I plan to have a take charge approach.
Me too! Girl let’s get it done in 2016.
Love the quote and love your word. Looking forward to the lifestyle content.
Thank you so much Arlett. Happy New Year.
