longest lasting twistout shea moisture

I don’t usually make a fuss about my twist outs anymore except if the results extra special. After a while a twist out is a twist out is a twist out. In this case, it something worth sharing because I recently achieved the longest lasting twist out ever! Fourteen days to be exact.

I’m always experimenting with different product combos and this particular combo was definitely a win. As you know the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie is one of my all time favorite products/moisturizer. I’m also a huge fan of the Qhemet Biologics brand and I particular the Hydrate & Twist butter.

This amazing combo (on dry hair) yielded the softest, fluffiest results ever. I literally couldn’t believe how great my hair felt.

For maintenance, I retwisted my hair is larger sections nightly. This was one of the keys to maintaining the look for this long. I also always wore my Eboni Curls bonnet. I only needed to reapply product on three occasions.

By day 14 my hair was still incredibly soft, but I made the decision to end the fun. Plus it was wash day πŸ™‚ Β Check out the video below for more deets πŸ™‚

Your turn: How long can you stretch a twist out, and do you have a preferred twisting combo?Β

Until next time

Hi Veepeejay! In the video, before you start twisting you said your hair is clean and a little bit stretched. Do you blow dry your hair a little, get under a bonnet dryer or air dry? How do you achieve the little bit of stretch? Thanks!

      Hi Jessicurl,
I usually Airdry my hair. When I want stretching I usually so about 6 braids and pin them to the opposite sides of my head. Sometimes I do large Bantu Knots as well.

First time here and I love your blog. When you re- twisted for maintenance, did you spray water to it or did you just dry twist with the products you previously used.

Thank you for sharing this combination of products! I’ve had the Curl Enhancing Smoothie in my stash for the longest time and I didn’t know how to apply it to my hair. I did some twists and pinned them up and it’s been five days so far and my hair is still moisturized and I’m receiving many compliments! So thank you very much!
