To shampoo or not to shampoo? This is one of the most debated topics among naturals. I used to be on the “low-poo” regimen (shampooing approximately twice per month) until I started using my beloved Bobeam Shampoo Bars.
Since I started using these bars back in October 2011, I’ve been shampooing my hair almost weekly with no ill-effects (dryness etc). These bars are really moisturizing and does not strip my natural oils like traditional shampoos can. To be honest, a least two of the bars actually make my hair feel like I’ve co-washed…no exaggeration.

The bars I’ve used are:
  • Cheris Hibiscus Moisturizing Bar
  • Honey and Oats Moisturizing Bar
  • Cocoa Olive Bar
  • Honey Shea bar
  • Goat’s Milk and Honey Bar
  • Shealoe Bar

The bars retail for $5-$6.50 depending on the size and the smaller ones are about the size of a regular bar of soap. A little bit goes a long way because they lather up REALLY well, gets your hair and scalp clean without stripping it. I generally pre-poo before washing my hair but there has been instances where I forgot or did an “unplanned” wash and still did not experience dry, stripped hair. These shampoo bars are multi-purpose, so if they don’t work for your hair, you can use them to shower. 🙂

Of course the ingredients are all natural. There are basic ingredients for all the bars and then other good-for-your-hair additives like Oatmeal, Coconut Oil, Almond oil, Goat’s Milk Lemon,Tea tree oil,Cocoa butter,Jojoba are put in for extra benefits depending on the bar. I keep my bars stored in Soap holders/dishes and stuck the original labels so I can tell them apart.

Thank you Renisha. Sorry about my tardy response. These bars are nothing but yummy goodness. I used to use them once a week, but I now only shampoo twice a month just because I have less time, but if once a month works for you, stick to it.

I have this soap from a hair meetup I went to in st Thomas and never tried it out. I’ve always heard that shampoo isn’t good all that stuff made me thought to only shampoo once a month. After reading this I’m definitely going to start using the shampoo bar. I just happen to found your blog and I’m so enjoying it. Great job.

Hey, I honestly love all the ones I’ve tried, but the ones that are marketed as moisturizing are the Cher Hibiscus & the Honey & Oats. You definitely can’t go wrong with those. Also, Laquita has the site organized so they are easy to find. If they are out of stock, send her a message on Etsy and she will let you know when they will be available. HTH ☺

Hi Vashti, I am thinking about trying these. Which bars are your favorite moisturizing bars? My hair is similar to yours and we use similar products so just trying to compare before I buy.

Great review! I love how you keep the bars in the travel soap boxes – with labels and all :o)
