Happy Thursday! Hang in there, Friday is almost here 🙂

A few days ago I said goodbye to my last set of Crochet braids after a very short relationship. The main reasons for the break-up were a sore/tight scalp and tension on my edges…whomp, whomp.
I knew I had to do something to make it up to my hair (and scalp), so I went back to my Ayurvedic ways.

I grabbed my Nupur Henna , Amla (to prevent too much loosening of my curl pattern) and some extra Hibiscus because I actually wanted a red tint.  Hibiscus is also really good for scalp health while strengthening and thickening the hair.

The Nupur Henna is a blend of 9 herbs including Amla & Hibiscus but I wanted to add a little extra. I used 4 spoons (plastic take-out spoon) of Henna, 2 spoons of Hibiscus and 2 spoons of Amla.
I added enough Tresemme Naturals conditioner and warm green tea to make a smooth paste.

My edges before the treatment.
Oh, this is my edge situation pre-treatment. It’s not horrible but I’m kinda paranoid about my edges and I try to keep them in tact as much as possible.  I did lose a few strands because my hair was braided too tight and I did have a teeny bit of breakage, but I’ll live 🙂
I applied the mixture right away to dry, dirty hair and left it on for about 45 minutes. I followed up with a conditioning session and an ACV rinse (also great for the scalp).

I made a concoction of Qhemet Biologics Amla & Olive Heavy Cream, Shea Moisture Extra Moisture Transitioning Milk, Aloe vera juice and Almond oil. I applied it to damp hair and finished it off with a teeny bit of a Shea butter based sealant called “The Gud Stuff”. I’ve had it forever, but it’s really good.

My hair was happy again, and my scalp feels back to normal. I’m back to rocking pinned up twists for a bit.

What treatments do you use when your hair needs some TLC?

Until next time
