When I first started blogging 4 years ago, my aim was to share hair journey to help my friends with natural hair styles and regimen tips. I honestly had no idea that the VeePeeJay platform would be what it is today, and I certainly didn’t expect to have the opportunities and experiences that I have been blessed with. Whether I’m sharing a hair tutorial or hosting an event, I’m really passionate about lifting women higher and encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone by sharing my own stories and experiences.

give-extra-get-extraI will probably say that my eyes were really opened to the possibilities (and responsibilities) that comes with being an online influencer, a little over year after I started blogging, when I met my friend Julian .  She invited me to assist her with organizing and co-hosting monthly natural hair/self development meetups in the DFW Area.

I quickly realized that our meetup events helped attendees connect, learn and grow with other likeminded women. At the end of the day, it was about so much more than hair. I was able to be part of a community of women who developed a sisterhood bond and helped to uplift, support and elevate each other. As a result, I too was inspired to step out of my comfort zone, aim higher and dream bigger than ever before.

I’ve heard so many great things about this conference, crossing my fingers that I win. I have 3 sister friends and we’ve been best friends for 20+ years. We’ve been through a lot as friends however our friendship has remained constant. I love those girls like they’re are my sisters and in fact we act as if we are. 🙂 I pay it forward by sharing and supporting my sisters. If I know something that can make your life better, best believe I’m sharing it with you. I’m also the queen of connecting people together, so if I can’t help you with something, I will connect you with someone who can.

Oh and to answer the question. One of my very first supervisors coached and molded me to be the business professional that I am. She not only cared about me professionally, but also personally, and genuinely so. I pay it forward by pouring myself into those that I meet in the same way she poured herself into me. I love her dearly. She was much more than a supervisor. She was a mentor and a dear friend.

Vashtiiiii! Absolutely, yes, I have women in my life who constantly and continuously lift me higher. You’re one of those women who inspire me to be better, go bigger and be my full and total self when society prefers me not to be. (And I love you for it.) How I pay that forward is by encouraging women around me, whether they’re friends or strangers, in the same way! When I’m poured into, it outpours to others. I believe in honest complimenting, genuine care and listening, being transparent and identifying with women where they are. Thankfully, I can do this in person, online and/or through my debut book The Girl Talk Chronicles. If this retreat embodies a fraction of this, I WANT IN! Thanks for the chance to enter.

    xoxo, Ariel
