sugar-ridge-winery-veepeejayLast Friday I celebrated my birthday. If you read my Dear Me post  , you will recall me telling my younger self to embrace new experiences. Over the years, my husband & I have made sure that we do just that. We love exploring our “neighborhood”, so this weekend he planned a surprise mini staycaytion to Ennis TX, for a drive in movie and a Wine Tasting at Sugar Ridge Winery .

I have never been to drive in movie, so it was definitely a new experience for me. I wish I had pictures, but it was late at night, and it was raining, so the pictures are not blog worthy. But the movie and the experience were really great! 🙂

I thought the drive in movie was the surprise, but as we drove into our hotel parking lot, I realized I that we were not going home. We spent the night in Ennis, which is a small town about 45 minutes south of Dallas. On Saturday, we headed over to Sugar Ridge Winery.

I’m the type of person who will take one sip of wine, and the next minute I’ll be looking for somewhere to lie down. Yep, I’m that girl.

We even settled on a favorite 🙂 The staff at Sugar Ridge Winery was super friendly and answered my million questions. Even the dog was friendly 🙂

Once the wine tasting was over, we headed back to Dallas because my friend Julian and I had plans to attend the Our Family Dinner Dallas.

Our Family Dinner was another fun, new experience. They even surprised the birthday ladies with a mini dessert. It was as good as it looks!

One of the highlights of my birthday was being able to talk to her for the last time. She wished me happy birthday, made sure I was ok (like she always did), and she also told me not to worry about her.
She was an amazing woman, she lived a long, full life, and I know she would be happy that I was out embracing new experiences.

YOUR TURN: What new experiences have you had lately?

I’m sorry for the loss of your grandma. It’s good you got to speak to her one last time. Wine! I love wine! And that place where you had the wine tasting, I want to live there! It looks so pretty. As for your hair. That’s what I want my hair to look like when it grows up. Totally crushing.

I’ve actually never been to a drive in movie or a wine tasting, so will have to add both to my list. It looks like you had a great time. I mentioned on FB as well, but so sorry about your grandmother and continue prayers to you and your family.

So sorry to hear of your Grandmothers passing. I know this must be a tough time for you and your family so hang in there. I am glad that you had a great BD wkd! I still like you even if you only usually sip wine. Lol. And your first drive in theater? I went to them often in Jamaica. They have Our family dinners here in Atlanta. I’ll have to make it to one.

Thanks Nadeen! It is, but we are getting through.

LOL…girl I’m a lightweight, but I’m getting better. I don’t recall us having a drive in at home at all, at least not that I know of 😀
I think you will really enjoy Our Family Dinner, it was a lot of fun.
