In my last skincare post, I mentioned wanting to try new/more natural products. I’ve been doing some research and I came across Emu Oil and its benefits for skin care. I was making my usual rounds on Vitacost last week, and decided to pick up some Emu Oil after reading all the rave reviews on their site.

According to the product description

Vitacost Emu Oil 100% Pure is an all-natural oil derived from the fat of the emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae), a flightless bird indigenous to Australia. Used by Australian natives as a folk remedy for its skin-soothing benefits, emu oil has gained popularity as an all-purpose skincare product with a diverse range of applications.

Emu oil is made up of beneficial essential fatty acids (EFAs), including omega-9 oleic acid, omega-6 linoleic acid and omega-3 linolenic acid. Vitamin E, the well-known skin soother and moisturizer, can also be found in emu oil.

Most people who left reviews used Emu oil as a face serum. I have also seen videos of people use it for thinning edges. The benefits of Emu Oil (for skincare) are listed as follows:

  • Easily absorbs to rejuvenate, thin/aging skin
  • Softens and moisturizes for healthy looking skin
  • Evens skin tone

Of course I didn’t just take their word for it. I decided to do some more research, also known as “watch YouTube videos” 🙂

RELATED POST: The Search for Natural Skincare Products

I came across this older video from CKeyBeauty about her experience with Emu Oil. (I searched her newer videos and she still uses today.)

So I guess this is the beginning of the “Skin Care Chronicles“. I’ll be trying out Emu Oil and I’ll let you know how it works. For now I’ll be using it at night. I picked up the 2oz on sale for about $9 at Vitacost. You can also find it HERE.

YOUR TURN: Have you heard of Emu Oil? Have you tried it?

Until next time

Ok I’ve never heard of Emu Oil. Looking forward to how you use this product and the benefits. I’ve been researching shea alternatives as I’m allergic to it.

Oh sorry to hear that MJ. Shea is in almost everything too.

Wow, never heard of it! But guess what I”ll be purchasing? That’s amazing that it penetrates all five layers of the skin and that it reduces pain as well. I’m definitely intrigued, thanks for sharing!
