When I made the bold decision to start blogging in 2011, I had no idea where it would take me. I’ve met some really amazing people and had some really great experiences. One of the most memorable moments was when I met my friend Julian.
We all have those VIPs in our lives who give extra and go the extra mile willingly and freely. Julian is definitely one of those people. We met casually in June 2012. We were both attending a natural hair event. She came in late and sat down next to me. I have no idea what made me do it, but I stuck my hand out and BOLDLY said “Hi, I’m Vashti”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty friendly, but if you’re a stranger and you sat next to me, back then I would have just smiled and said a “quiet” hello. Something about Julian made me want to be extra outgoing that day 🙂
From that moment we pretty much bonded. Julian and I are very similar, yet very different
On the same day we met, she invited me to her website launch and to become a contributor to her blog. A month later, she invited me to co-host her first meetup, and a few weeks after that she invited me to be co-organizer of her meetup group. The rest is history.
I love giving people their flowers while they are alive, so she knows how I feel about her, but when I had the opportunity to give EXTRA thanks, it was a no brainer.
In 2013, Julian moved to New York and she would travel between Dallas & NYC to visit family and host events. Even throughout the transition, we’ve been able to continue partner to host events, and our friendship has grown even more. What I appreciate so much about Julian is that she’s real and she has a HUGE heart. She is one of those people who will tell the things you don’t want to hear, but need to hear.
She didn’t know anything about me when we met, yet she took a chance and “gave EXTRA”. I’ll always appreciate her for that.
I created this mini Holiday Care Pack just for her. I’m looking forward to giving EXTRA when I get to see her next week. *squeals*
Thanks Jules for always being willing to GIVE EXTRA and for being one of the VIPs in my life.
And since we’re talking about EXTRA, I had to be extra and say it in three languages 🙂

Awwww this is so sweet. I love the idea of an Give Extra box of goodies for your VIPs. I have so many VIPs in my life. Some I have known my entire life and some I have met within the last year (hint, hint.) I will definitely be giving extra in 2015 for my special people.
