Trimming #naturalhair

Since I got my hair cut last year, I’ve been getting my hair professionally trimmed. Prior to that I’ve always trimmed my hair myself. This past weekend I pulled out my new pair of shears and gave my ends a much needed trim.

I do plan on continuing to get my hair professionally trimmed, but I’m preparing to put my hair away for a bit so I decided to do a DIY trim. My last cut was back in July, but I spent an exorbitant amount of time in the sun while on vacation this past summer. Although I wore Kinky Twists for some of the time, my ends were really exposed to the sun. I also went to the beach and got my hair wet many times. I’m sure you get the point. I needed a trim.

TIP: Always use Shears to trim your ends. Never trim your ends with scissors that has been used to cut other items.

I use my Goody Shears that I purchased on Amazon for under $10. I ONLY use them to trim my hair. I store them away in the pouch to ensure they are not accidentally used to cut paper….or other stuff 🙂

I always trim my hair dry because I can see the section that needs to snipped easier. I take each section, ensure it is detangled, and I stretch it away from my head. I then snip off the dead, dry, dull, tangled section. Trust me, you will be able to see and feel the section that needs to trimmed.

My hair always loves me after I treat my ends 🙂 I used the combo of Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie + Qhemet Biologics Aethiopika Hydrate and Twist butter.

I got so many questions about my hair at the Style Your Life workshop this past weekend. All thanks to a little snipping 🙂

YOUR TURN: Are you a DIY trimmer or do you let someone else take care of your ends? Let me know in the comments below.

I hope you had a great weekend.

Until next time

Your hair looks great! Very healthy. I find naughty ends and snip them on the regular. I get a professional trim twice a year.

Thanks Adanna. A little snipping works wonders 🙂
